Gardening at BT Community Garden

When our six volunteers arrived at the BT Garden this afternoon we were faced with weeds, lawn-spread, and plants that were in need of dead-heading.
We worked from 12 noon to 2:30pm and during that time we cleared the weeds, dead-headed the plants, cleared the beds, and prepared the planters ready for the next season.
The work that has been done in recent years meant that we were able to make a lot of progress clearing half the garden

Our volunteers had a great time working together, and we welcomed three new volunteer gardeners to our team alongside our returning volunteers. We hope to grow the team and if you would like to help us as we move forward improving the environment of Heywood and Hopwood through horticulture, floriculture, and craft, then please complete the form on the volunteer page (link above).

We finished the afternoon on a high, with the garden to the right of the steps cleared of weeds, the existing plants looking healthy and strong, and the hostas can be seen just starting to show their heads.
We also managed to clean out the three tier planter, ready for this year's display to be planted in the near future.
A massive thank you to all the volunteers who were able to attend, and we will continue with this work next Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon in order to get the left side of the garden prepared.
