Heywood in Bloom

Heywood in Bloom is a volunteer-led community organisation working to make Heywood a greener, brighter and more attractive place to live, work and visit. We bring local people and organisations together to improve green spaces, encourage gardening and horticulture, and support projects that make a positive difference to our town.

No. Flowers and planting are an important part of what we do, but our work is about much more than floral displays. We support community gardening, improve local spaces and encourage people to take an active part in caring for their neighbourhood. We are also exploring how our horticultural work can do more to support pollinators, wildlife and the wider natural environment.

Heywood in Bloom is run by local volunteers. We are independent of Rochdale Council, although we can work with the Council and other organisations where our aims overlap. Our projects depend on local people giving their time, knowledge and enthusiasm to improve Heywood.

Our focus is Heywood and its communities. Our work can range from individual planting sites to larger community projects such as the HIB Community Allotment. We also work with partner organisations and want projects to develop in different parts of the town where local people want to become involved.
