One of the aims of the Heywood in Bloom Committee for this year is to consolidate the work we are doing and to develop a more sustainable planting so that we are supporting our wildlife and have colourful displays all year round.

We went to Bowlee Nursery today to discuss this with their team, and got a lot of ideas for how we can take this aim forward over the next year or two. The committee are pictured below with some of the plants we selected.

The Heywood in Bloom Committee visited Bowlee Garden Centre today to choose the first of the perennial plants we are buying this year in order to make our planting more sustainable and give colour all year round.

The perennials are now on the allotment where we will care for them until we plant them.

We now need volunteers to help to plant them so we are planning a group activity on Saturday 26th April when we will complete the clean up of BT gardens and get some of the new plants in the ground.

We will meet at BT gardens at 11am and would love to see as many volunteers as are able to make it. For anyone unsure of the location of BT gardens it’s opposite Heywood indoor market, round the corner from the Cptn Bill Boat.
