North West in Bloom Judges Visit Heywood

On 25 June, Heywood in Bloom welcomed the judges from North West in Bloom for the main judging day of this year's competition.

The judges spent the day touring some of the town's most important green spaces and environmental projects, visiting our entries in the Large Town, Town Centre, Large Park and Business Park categories.

The tour included visits to:

• Queen's Park

• Hopwood Park

• Heywood Distribution Park

• Heywood Town Centre

• The Picture Frame

The day showcased the strength of partnership working across Heywood. Volunteers, community groups, businesses and public organisations all played their part in demonstrating how the town is becoming greener, more welcoming and a place in which people can take pride.

From colourful planting displays and well-maintained public spaces to biodiversity projects and community initiatives, every stop on the tour reflected the dedication of the many people who work throughout the year to improve Heywood's environment.

Chairman Iain Donaldson said:

"Judging day is only one day in the calendar, but it represents thousands of volunteer hours, countless acts of kindness and an enormous amount of partnership working. We were proud to show the judges not just our floral displays, but the communities that have helped create them. Whatever the results in October, everyone involved has already achieved something of which they can be proud."

Heywood in Bloom would like to thank every volunteer, partner organisation, business and supporter who helped prepare for the visit. The judges saw first-hand how communities across the town are working together to make a lasting difference.

The results of the competition will be announced at the North West in Bloom Awards later this autumn, but regardless of the outcome, the progress made across Heywood over the past year is something the whole town can celebrate.
