Keeping Heywood in Bloom

Heywood in Bloom brings people together to make our town greener, brighter and better. We are a community-led group working with volunteers, residents, community organisations, businesses, schools, churches, Rochdale Council and others across Heywood. From colourful planting and our Community Allotment to community gardens, environmental projects and North West in Bloom, we help turn people's time, skills and ideas into improvements that everyone can enjoy.

There are lots of ways to be part of it.

Get involved

However much or little time you have, and whatever your skills or experience, there are different ways to get involved with Heywood in Bloom. The three ways in which people engage with us the most are through our volunteer programme, or by becoming a partner organisation through our Grow With Us project or though our Seed a new Project initiative. For more details of each, please click on the corresponding button below.

Our Community Allotment brings people together to grow plants and produce, learn new skills, support community partners and raise funds for our work.

What we do

VOLUNTEER

Our volunteers create and maintain colourful displays across Heywood, making public spaces brighter, greener and more welcoming for residents and visitors.

In Bloom

We celebrate Heywood’s achievements through the In Bloom campaign and help local gardens, groups and organisations find opportunities to take part.

GROW WITH US

We support groups and organisations improving local spaces by sharing experience, offering advice, making connections and helping their projects grow.

Working together

Our partners and supporters contribute time, skills, materials, equipment, services and funding, helping us achieve more for Heywood and its communities.

SEED A PROJECT

Seed a Project helps people turn ideas for improving local spaces into reality through practical advice, shared experience, local connections and community support.

Our 2026 Portfolio

Our 2026 Portfolio celebrates the people, projects, places and partnerships making Heywood greener and demonstrating what a community working together can achieve.

What's happening
